Embracing UX trends is a continuous process that we apply as designers.
The key to adapting is to follow an interesting concept/framework.
The concept rather a framework that has had a profound effect on my design process is a book by ๐๐ผ๐ป ๐ก๐ผ๐ฟ๐บ๐ฎ๐ป called โEmotional Designโ where Don talks about 3 levels of design
– Visceral
– Behavioral
– Reflective
Keep these questions in your mind while embracing a change in trend:
1.Whatโs their first impression of a product (๐ฉ๐ถ๐๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐น)?
2.Whatโs their experience with the product (๐๐ฒ๐ต๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐น)?
3.How does a design make your users feel before, during and after use (๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ณ๐น๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ)?
The only way to get the answers right is to understand the users needs and build a product that solves their problem and also creates an emotional connection.
– As a designer our work doesnโt stop at designing, we need to learn to infuse emotions that connect the user to the product.
All these play a part in creating an inclusive, accessible and useful product that isnโt just good looking but has intent.
The point is, Everything we do in UX has a purpose and emotions plays a crucial role in driving metrics driven framework.
